So, a recent purchase via iTUNES has brought on another dominator of my iPOD, this being the band BLACK ELK. It is helping with my recent paranoia about many things as well as drowning out all of the assholes on the train and making the rat race about an inch from bearable. If you remember a band called WADSWORTH, also from Portland, you will recognize one of the guitarists. Erik was always a funny guy to listen to. They have some pretty awesome illustrations going for merch and show promotions as well. Beats the crap out of the checker-boarded white rimmed sunglasses skinny tied eighties shit that is infiltrating band merch design lately.
Anyhoo, one more day of work until we board the blue meanie and head into the great white north for some much needed non-colorado time. That is all for now, until next time COURAGE.
Whilst on holiday in the Northwest, AKA Seattle. We were able to take in a great piece of cinema. If you enjoy things that don’t suck, you’d probably like the movie. It has the Josef seal of approval.
I came across Stephen Balleux via designiskinky.net. Pretty interesting work, but my favorites, of course are the distorted figures in the suits. Go figure. Well, it is off to the grind again. Until the next time, COURAGE.

15 awful mistakes… is a link that was found via changethethought.com as well as the denver egotist. I know that these are all issues that I’ve dealt with or are currently dealing with both my freelance as well as the day job. Very interesting information, though it is focusing on apparel design, I believe it spans the majority of design work.
Today is the first day back to the grind since returning from our vacation. Good thing it is going to be hot and miserable and it is tuesday to boot. Maybe I can hire a midget to occasionally punch me in the crotch throughout the day to complete this oh so lovely experience. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.
I’ve posted all of our photos from the Seattle excursion on the FLICKR account. Well, time for the morning weep before heading to the train for the day job. Until the next time, COURAGE.
We’re still kicking it in Seattle and are having a gooda time. The delete will soon be back in the swing of things. I’ll be boring people with the photos as well, so get ready to come over to the casa de la delete for some rhubarb pie and a three hour slideshow of our trip to the great Northwest. Until then, COURAGE!
Instead of crawling into work tomorrow, the wife and I will be boarding a plane to head to Seattle for a few days. I’m looking to front the second wave of something in Seattle, I’m not sure what, but I’ll think of something whilst I’m there. Most likely this will be the last post until the beginning of next week. I know, it is sad, but you can always check out the archives of my mindless crap to hold you over. No worries. Until next time, COURAGE. Read the rest of this entry »
Six-fifty-three on sunday and I’m doing the daily check of email. I’ve got the green light to move ahead on freelance project A, still have to do more work on freelance project B, both of which will be a nice break from the stream of day-job projects that have been rolling in and continue so on a day to day basis.
We’re dropping off the dog in a different state for the week as we’ll be on the move, in vacation mode for a good chunk of the coming week. We’re heading to the land of flannel and coffee Weds. morning, which shall be fun. Until then it shall be packing and prep work.
As for the posting of THE HAMMER PARTY album cover, I’ve always thought this was a great cover not to mention an amazing album. Who can’t tap their toes to “THIS IS TEXAS” and “Dead Billy”? Speaking of which, there might be some future projects themed by such songs. Stay tuned for that.
Egad, it has been a week and I’m very happy to say that it has ended. I believe that a few ulcers have started as a result though. Good thing next week is very brief as far as the day job is concerned, I only wish the vacation started today.
I recently picked up A DULL ROAR at the bookstore the other day and works quite well to unwind from the rat race.
I believe that I’m going to make a move on the King Diamond activity book, more to come soon.
Rene Almanza was mentioned on the infamous fecalface.com and directed me to a collection of his latest works and I’m mighty impressed. The abstractions along with the random bits of reddish orange in his pieces are pretty strong. Very cool work, indeed!
I had the unfortunate experience of waking up and believing that it was friday. Not the best start to the day. Let’s hope it gets better from here. Until the next time… Courage.
